Querida

Can you give a brief intro on who you are, where you are based, and the work that you do?
Querida offers creative consultancy for brands, institutions and individuals for both print and online projects. We are based in Barcelona but most of our clients are international. We are also partners at Mañana, a production company that offers production services and creative direction aiming to create the truly diverse video and photo content that modern audiences demand.
Are there any trends that inspire your current work?
We have never considered ourselves to be a trendy agency. Of course, we are well aware of what is currently hot, but we have always sought inspiration outside the internet and blogs. For example, not to sound pretentious, but for us art in any of its forms is an endless source of inspiration.
Is there something you can’t live without in your studio?
Our office used to be a photo studio, which means that we have a big space with a high ceiling and a lot of natural light. The only problem is that having such a big space means that during summer it’s super hot and during winter it’s super cold. So I guess we couldn’t live without our heating and cooling system. When it comes to the team, each one of us has their own needs: Eloi and Marc couldn’t live without coffee, Marina and Sara are obsessed with the aquarium, Albert is always listening to music…
Do you have any favorite stories from your work life?
We have plenty! But one of our favorites was back in the day when Querida was just starting and we didn’t even have an office. Out of the blue, one day we were approached by a big company and they asked to meet at our studio. But since we didn’t have one, we rented some equipment and borrowed a couple of computers from our friends. The plan was to take everything to Marc’s house to make it look like an office. Surprisingly, the meeting went so well that a couple of weeks later they asked to meet again at “our office”, so we had to repeat the whole operation. Not only that, the problem was that we didn’t remember where we (had) put all the stuff the first time so it was kind of a disaster… There wasn’t a third meeting LOL.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Nothing fancy, a lot of meetings and hard work.
What is your greatest professional achievement?
It’s hard to say what our greatest professional achievement has been, but without a doubt we could say that as an agency working (together) with Solange has given us international visibility. We started working with her 5 years ago and since then we have developed all kinds of projects with her, from merchandising to websites or books, among many other things. Currently we are working on a new website and a book.
